Shisan Zukan ("wealth encyclopedia") estimates the listed-stock net worth, executive pay, dividends and taxes of founders, executives and major shareholders of companies listed in Japan. It is part of the Zukan series of open-data sites.
Data
Japan: annual securities reports (yuho) filed with the Financial Services Agency's EDINET system. We read the top 10 shareholders, the list of officers and their shareholdings, individually disclosed executive pay (¥100 million or more), average pay by officer category, and per-share data (EPS, P/E ratio, dividends, shares issued).
United States: Forms 3, 4 and 5 filed with the SEC (shares owned following each reported transaction), prices from the SEC's Fails-to-Deliver data and Form 13F filings, and dividends and CEO pay disclosed in XBRL.
Net worth
Japan: shares held × the share price at the fiscal year-end. The price is the P/E ratio × EPS from the report; in loss-making years we use the midpoint of the year's high and low, or the nearest year's price.
Shares held through a personal asset-management company are added to the owner. We link an asset-management company to a person when the company is a top-10 shareholder of the same listed company and its name contains the person's family name; editors can correct links.
Only listed shares are included. Cash, real estate, unlisted shares and debt are not.
Executive pay
Pay of ¥100 million or more is disclosed individually and shown as reported.
Other officers are estimated at the average pay of the same category (internal directors, outside officers, auditors) at the same company, and marked "estimated".
Dividends, total income and taxes
Dividends: shares held × annual dividend per share.
Total income: executive pay + dividends (including dividends received by asset-management companies).
Taxes: estimated income tax (including the reconstruction surtax) and resident tax on pay and dividends held in the person's own name. Dividends from a company in which the person (with their asset-management company) holds 3% or more are taxed progressively with the dividend credit; others at 20.315%. The additional tax on extremely high incomes (from 2025) is included. Corporate tax paid by asset-management companies is not.
Other assets (est.): the sum of each year's after-tax income (pay + dividends in own name − estimated taxes and social insurance) and dividends retained by asset-management companies (less about 20% corporate tax), for the years covered by our data. Spending, real estate, inheritance and earlier savings are not reflected; treat it as a rough guide.
World ranking
US insiders are valued from SEC Form 3/4/5 holdings (direct and indirect, excluding options and RSUs) at the latest available price, and converted to yen at the European Central Bank reference rate. Shares of the same family vehicle reported by several people are split equally.
Names
Japanese names are shown in romaji (family name last). They are generated automatically and may differ from the spelling the person uses.
